Shows and Markets

The Denmead Village Show taking place on Saturday 19 August from 11am to 5pm at The Lawns in Forest Road is the Society’s 56th annual summer show.

This year’s show promises to be even bigger and better than last year! Arena events include a falcon display and dog show and on the field attractions include farm animals, a Punch and Judy show, Trigger the Train, bouncy castle and slide, classic cars, Harley Davidsons, vintage bicycles and a traditional fairground organ. There will be many stalls and this year we have a separate marquee for crafts. The Portsmouth City Band will be playing near the tea tent where you can buy sandwiches and home made cakes. In the Pig & Skittle, our on field pub, you can enjoy the hog roast by A Hampshire Hog and a glass of Appledram cider, then have a go at the traditional game of skittles played with wooden cheeses instead of balls. The main attraction is the horticultural marquee with wonderful displays of vegetables, flowers, crafts, cooking and flower arranging.
